Personal Info:
In 2009, Boris received a master degree in "Material sciences and nanotechnologies" at the french engineering school INSA (National Institute of Applied Sciences) of Rennes. The skills acquired within the department are multidisciplinary and particularly suited for a career in areas of new and high technologies.
As part of his studies, he carried out two internships. First, he spent four month preparing the company Saint Gobain Crystal & Detectors for the european directive REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of CHemical substances) during summer 2008. Eventually, he completed his master degree with his final thesis at the Wave Energy Research Group of Aalborg, Denmark between March and August 2009. During 6 months, he contributed to the development of two wave energy projects including numerical simulations on the feasability of inserting a wave maker into an existing aquarium and a battery of wave tank tests on a proptotype.
In January 2010, Boris joined the Centre for Ocean Energy Research at NUIM and started a PhD on techno-economic optimisation of Wave Energy Converters (WEC). The project directly addresses the issue of the economic performance of a wavefarm by considering the integrated optimisation of WEC device geometry, power take-off system and control strategy influencing the power production, while enumerating overall system costs, including capital costs and maintenance and operating costs.
