Personal Info: Josh studied a Bachelor of Science majoring in Physics at James Cook University(JCU), Australia, and graduated with first class honours. He then undertook a Ph.D. at JCU, in collaboration with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organistion's (CSIRO) Energy Technology Division, investigating energy harvesting for marine based sensors. The work in this thesis explored thermal energy harvesting across the air/water interface and ocean wave energy conversion to provide a renewable power source for autonomous environmental monitoring deployments in the marine enviroment. Upon completion of his Ph.D., Josh commenced a Postdoc at the Center for Ocean Energy Research at NUIM in 2012. His work at the Center involves nonlinear parametric modelling and control for wave energy devices using numerical tank testing.
